This post might be a few years out of date – after all the idea of a frozen / slushie rosé wine drink was definitely popular a few years ago. However, I always like coming back to nostalgic ‘drink of the summer’ ideas and seeing if I can do anything new with them. A couple days ago I had a gifted bottle of rosé wine and some cut up fruit and decided, hey, why not make a strawberry pineapple frose to drink by the pool.
I’ll admit I probably used a more expensive bottle of rosé wine than was necessary, so please don’t tell me I wasted money in the comments. I just grabbed what was on hand since I wasn’t about to go to the store to buy a new bottle. It is best to use a very cheap rose wine since you are going to alter the flavor anyways.
The fruit for this recipe was about a cup of pineapple and a cup of strawberries. You can use any fruits you want (although then it wouldn’t be a strawberry pineapple frose now would it?). You’ll also need 1 750ml bottle of rosé wine (cheaper the better) and an optional 1/2 cup of sugar and 1/4 cup of lemon juice. I say optional because some people (like me) actually prefer less sweet drinks. I do love the pop the lemon juice brings!
Add all of the ingredients to a blender (I use an amazing Blendtec) and blend until everything is as smooth as possible. Then add ice to the top and pulse until you get a smoothie consistency. Pour into a plastic glass (no glass at the pool!) garnish, serve, and enjoy!
