The Lady Des Vœux is a Hong Kong inspired cocktail with a gin base. In fact, it has London Dry Gin, Lemon Juice, Lychee Syrup, and Rose Wine. It is a light and refreshing cocktail perfect for garden parties, or just enjoying on your balcony overlooking a city.
I’ve always found it a bit hard naming cocktails. The name, Lady Des Vœux, for this was inspired by my time in Hong Kong (with lychee being an Asian fruit). In fact, my office used to be on Des Vœux Road, named after one of the earliest governors of Hong Kong. I find the pink color gives it a feminine quality, and paired with the curvy champagne flute the name seemed to make sense to me.
For this recipe I actually used canned lychees that were stored in their syrup. I probably should have made homemade lychee syrup, but as this was my first time making this cocktail I didn’t want to make a syrup for one drink. Different than my Butterfly Sour, where I spent 4 days infusing a vodka just for 1 liqueur.

The glasses were bought from Luigi Bormioli, one of my favorite affordable cocktail glass makers. You can find these on Amazon here.
