You can never go wrong with discovering a new Galliano cocktail – especially since you probably have a years old bottle laying somewhere in the back of your home bar. Yet the golden dream is not a new cocktail, in fact it is considered a contemporary classic back from the 1960s!
This lovely drink was invented by Raimundo Alvarez back at the Old King Bar in Miami, Florida. This is his most famous cocktail, and he said he dedicated it to actress Joan Crawford. My personal favorite thing about this drink is it is another cocktail made with Galliano – which I’m always looking for.
The composition of this drink is quite simple and you only need four ingredients. However it is quite a heavy drink so it is unlikely you will have more than 2 of them. Treat it as an after dinner or dessert cocktail to really enjoy it.
How To Make The Golden Dream Cocktail
To make the golden dream you need just four ingredients. Add them to a shaker filled with ice and strain into a chilled martini glass and serve. I recommend using freshly squeezed orange juice, but you can use bottled if you prefer.
Ingredients
- 50 ml Galliano l’Autentico
- 50 ml Cointreau
- 50 ml Orange Juice – freshly squeezed
- 25 ml Heavy Cream
The original recipe calls for fresh cream, but I find that heavy cream gives a richer mouthfeel and emulsifies with the fresh orange juice better. I know that sounds weird being dairy and citrus, but with the other ingredients and shaken with ice it gets pretty frothy and homogenous.
