Good Foods For Pairing With That Breaktime Cuppa
A breaktime cuppa is a cornerstone of modern life. It’s quick and simple, tastes good, and most importantly, gives you a spurt of energy to get through the afternoon. But if you’re someone who likes just chomping down on biscuits with your cuppa, it’s time to treat yourself a little better! So, seeing as we all love a cuppa, why not dig a little deeper into good foods (or snacks!) to pair them with?
After all, you know all about being able to lay out a good spread at a dinner party, but what about when you’re on a 20 minute break when working from home and you need something tasty and nutritious (and easy) to pair with your drink? Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered!
A Baked Good
Baked goods are always going to be a great thing to pair with hot drinks like tea, such as this Best British Tea type – a good English Breakfast or an Earl Grey would work wonders with some home made, sugary sweet pastries. However, it’s also a good idea to pair some fruity or herbal teas with sweet or savory pastries of all kinds. Fruits and Vegetables
Fruits and vegetables aren’t something we tend to think of as an afternoon snack, nor as a good thing to pair with hot drinks. After all, we like to have a cold drink to offset something baked or roasted, but there’s always a good tea selection out there that’ll pair well with people who love to have a salad.
So, either a light Oolong tea or a White tea would work best here; you don’t want to overpower the flavor of the foods, but you also don’t want to completely miss the subtle aftertastes of either of these leafs. As so, this is a match made in heaven!
Cheese is a great little hit of protein in the middle of the afternoon, and it’s a good thing to snack on whenever you need a bit of an energy hit. Even just combining it with a few slices of apple can ensure you’ve got something healthy and nutritious, and all it takes is 5 minutes to prepare!
However, cheese is a great food to pair with hot drinks as well. One of the best ways to incorporate it into your afternoon break time routine is to make some cream cheese finger slice sandwiches – amazing with both coffee and tea of all types, but especially with a cup of green tea. You could even pair these with a bit of smoked salmon for a more rich flavor!
