Dragon’s Horde

Dragon's Horde Cocktail with a spring onion spear garnish

Recently I’ve been trying to create my own cocktails, as well as re-making the classics. Some are hit or miss, so luckily you don’t have to see all the stuff that isn’t deemed ‘good enough’. Luckily I think some of my creations are quite good, like this Dragon’s Horde cocktail. This is an equal parts cocktail so if you are just getting into cocktail making, this is an easy one.

This is a very alcohol forward cocktail, since there are no mixers. All three ingredients are alcoholic, with the bourbon and Galliano being over 40%. The Galliano is also what brings forth the gold color, hence the name. While the drink leans more toward the bitter side, the final ingredient, Lillet Blanc, adds a balancing amount of sweetness which helps the drink to go down very smoothly.

How To Make The Dragon’s Horde Cocktail

Dragon's Horde Cocktail Ingredients: bourbon, galliano, lillet blanc

Ingredients

25 ml Bourbon. I used Bulleit since I’m a fan of the strong punchiness it provides in cocktails. However you can use whatever bourbon you like as this isn’t a super mandatory ingredient like the next two.

25 ml Galliano. This anise and vanilla infused liqueur brings a ton of flavor along with the bitterness so unique to Galliano. Not to mention the color is so strong it gives the final cocktail a great glow.

25 ml Lillet Blanc. Lillet Blanc is a French fortified wine that I absolutely love in cocktails. In a lot of ways it is like a vermouth, and in many cocktails I’ll substitute Lillet over vermouth any day.

Add all ingredients along with a few ice cubes to a mixing glass. Stir to combine and chill, then strain into a small Nick and Nora glass. Garnish with a spring onion spear.
