After spending a month in Bali, both Alona and I kind of got addicted to bowls. These Instagram friendly dishes are popular all over the island for their bright colors and healthy ingredients. If they are made with a smoothie base they are called smoothie bowls. In this case I’m calling it a cottage cheese bliss bowl, since it does not have a smoothie base, but is still a healthy and vegetarian bowl.
For the base of this bowl I used a classic Ukrainian cottage cheese called Творог. This popular ingredient is used in everything from pancakes to cheesecake. In this instance I found it makes a great base for a cottage cheese bliss bowl that’s perfect for breakfast.
Other toppings include banana (of course), walnuts, sunflower seeds, and a drizzle of craft honey. The most important thing when making bowls in my opinion is to use high quality ingredients. This is because you want to taste each ingredient separately, not hiding them behind a sauce or glaze like with other types of cooking.

I put the ingredients into a coconut bowl that we brought back from Sri Lanka to keep things traditional. Plus, brown coconut bowls always offer a nice contrast with the light/bright colored ingredients.
