Vatrushka is a sweet cheese bun that’s popular in Eastern Europe. All throughout countries like Belarus, Russia, and Ukraine you can find these cheese pastries offered, usually for breakfast. This is the second recipe (after Chakhokhbili) that I made from my recently acquired 1939 USSR

Bublik (pronounced boob-lick), or Bubliki for the plural, is the Ukrainian version of a bagel. In fact, there’s very little difference in my opinion between the two. They are both yeasted bread rings that are boiled before baking, and commonly topped with sesame or poppy
